Career Profile Project
Executive Director, Franklin Park Coalition
Job Title and Job Description
Executive Director, Franklin Park Coalition
I run a small non-profit that advocates for Franklin Park. This involves everything from high-powered meetings with the Mayor to basic office work to hiking in the park?s woods. That?s why I love it - no day is exactly the same.
What are some related career opportunities and job titles in your company or in your career area?
Park Manager, Grant Writer, Community Relations, Organizer, Environmental Educator
What education or training did you have to prepare for this career?
B.A. from a liberal arts college, then a master?s in community organizing in social work.
What education or training do you recommend for students today who want to enter this field?
My training was good, but on-the-job training was even better. For park work, a landscape design degree, a forestry degree, or a horticulture degree would be helpful. For non-profit administration a business degree might be good.
When you were in high school, did you know that you would enter this field?
NO!
