Health Coach

Job Title and Job Description

Health Coach

Using a holistic approach, I support individuals in decisions they make to improve their diet and lifestyle. I work remotely with clients all over the US, targeting equestrians. I love being able to make a positive, lasting change in the lives of others!

What are some related career opportunities and job titles in your company or in your career area?

Health Coach, Wellness Coach, Success Coach, Psychologist, Personal Trainer, Nutritionist, Dietitian, horseback rider, equestrian.

What education or training did you have to prepare for this career?

Certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (1 year program). Also, my background is in Marketing (4 year degree from Emerson College), so I have a good foundation on how to market/advertise my services, although IIN does incorporate business coaching.

What education or training do you recommend for students today who want to enter this field?

IIN is a great place to start: http://www.equestrianhealthcoach.com/becoming-a-health-coach.html They help you create your niche and biz dev, as well as train you in over 100 different dietary theories. I do not recommend the USDA dietician route as it is a one-size-fits-all approach, however the science background in that program is thorough.

When you were in high school, did you know that you would enter this field?

NO! I had no idea what I wanted to do. Now I have combined my passion for horseback riding with my career interest in health and wellness, and specifically target riders who want to improve their health and ride better in competition.
