Order art materials--both regular stock and special orders,maintain inventory, oversee staff, wait on custom framing and art supply customers, deal with complaints.

What are some related career opportunities and job titles in your company or in your career area?

Although this is a retail store, many customers are looking for artists for commercial and fine art purposes, i.e., advertising, calligraphy, caricatures and portraits. Our staff are all trained artists and often respond personally to these requests.

What education or training did you have to prepare for this career?

Love of artwork, various art courses after high school, desire to be in art-related field and deal with artists on a daily basis.

What education or training do you recommend for students today who want to enter this field?

Knowledge of various art mediums including computer applications. To succeed one needs energy, a desire to learn, and good selling techniques.

When you were in high school, did you know that you would enter this field?

No, I was always interested in a career in art, but owning an art supply store never entered my mind.
